How hidden purchases work
Updated Works onWebiPhone
When someone buys something from your list, you won't see what was bought, or by whom, until the reveal date they picked, or ever, if there's no reveal date. Other people who are signed in can see it's taken, so nobody buys it twice.
Who sees what

From purchase to reveal
- Step 1Someone marks an item purchased and picks the day you’ll find out
- Step 2Everyone signed in sees it’s taken; you don’t
- Step 3On that day, you find out what was bought, and by whom
Who can see a purchase
- You, the list's owner: nothing on the item itself. You see how many of the list's items are bought, and you get a notification that something was bought, without saying what.
- Anyone you've built the list with: the same as you. A shared list keeps the surprise for everyone it belongs to.
- Everyone else who's signed in: which items are bought, and who bought them, so they can pick something else.
- Anyone not signed in: no purchase marks. Bought items just sit at the end of the list.
On the reveal date
The item shows who bought it, with a note inside: "Phil bought this for you!" The next morning you get a notification that some of your gifts are now visible.
A purchase with no reveal date stays hidden for good.
Good to know: The person buying the gift picks the reveal date, and can change it later. There's no setting that shows you purchases early.
